Job Losses at Pfizer in the UK

Pfizer, the manufacturer of Viagra, is reduce its workforce in the UK by up to 240 jobs. Pfizer currently employs over 300 workers at its research and development facility in Kent. The staff will be lost from research, where between 5% and 8% of the jobs will disappear.
The MP for South Thanet, Stephen Ladyman, has met with the management team at Pfizer to discuss job losses at the Sandwich site, where he was a former employee. Up to 150 of the job losses could occur in Sandwich.
Mr Ladyman said that the management have agreed that downsizing where possible should be on a voluntary basis, and generous help should be able to those employees forced to leave.
